Deem some hot CREPES!!

          When my brother is home that means one things.  We make food together.  Preferably something that’s pretty bad for me.  this time we made crepes and home made hot chocolate.  I love working on things in the kitchen.  Putting on some awesome tunes and letting things cook.  It’s also nice to be cooking with someone else.   
I love hot chocolate.   It was on my Top Ten list for foods.  I’ve never made it from scratch before though.  I wasn’t sure what I was doing but it turned out fantastic, I loved it so much.  My brother had gotten the book above for me a couple of years ago.  I had forgotten about it until he asked me if I wanted to make some hot chocolate.  But there was something else to go with the hot chocolate that would be awesome…. some crepes.

There was once last food that was to go in between the hot chocolate and the crepes.  For the party we had made risotto and there was a lot left over.  So my brother made rice balls with the left over tomatoes and mozzarella.  they were really easy to make and tasted so goo.  Having the cheese and the tomatoes inside the rice and then we rolled it in flour and fried them.  They were so great.  I would defiantly make them again.

Ante Up

           For my mom’s and my step-dad’s birthday we have a party every year that has to do with the age they turn.  Since they turned 51 last year we had an Area 51 party.  This year since there are 52 cards in a deck we had a party that was card themed.  I decorated the tents and there was sooo much food.  It was fun to see all of their friends again.    The thing I love most about working on a party is, well I love a lot of it actually.  The planning is so fun because you can start to envision how everything is going to work.  My other favorite part is deffiatly the decorating.  It’s so much fun to see a place come together into something that is not only beautiful but if fun and fits with the rest of the party.Party’s are always something that brings a lot of fun to everyone that is involved.   Party’s aralso a way to show your creativity, having people look at what you did and thinking it amazing makes it all worth the time and the effort that you put into it,

We played blackjack and we decided to donate money to our local humane society so we had people donate and we played some blackjack for fun.  I got to deal for awhile which is always fun.

Rosy Completion

        For my mom’s birthday we went out to dinner at a fancy old hotel that we live near.  It was nice to put on the dress and a cute pair of heels.  I always feel so gross after work that wearing anything nice seems wrong but I really enjoyed dressing up like that.  But lately I’ve also been really excited to go back to school so getting back into the routine of finding something to wear is refreshing. 

Another thing I can’t wait to do at school is decorate my half of the room I’m going to have.  I think that decorating is one of the most exciting things about getting a new space to live in.

The Wheels in the Sky Keep on Turnin’

         More like that shoes keep on comin’  yesterday my mom and I went thrift shopping again and I ending up getting three pairs of shoes.  I’ll share the picture tomorrow.  I decided to turn the A Thrift a Day into an ongoing segment so that you all can see what I’ve been buying.
         While that’s good news I have even better, my brother is going to be home.  Even though it’s only for 4 days I’m extremely excited.  It’s so fun to spend time with him and even though we’re 6 years apart it’s crazy how similar we are.  He’s home because my mom and my step-dad are having their birthday party this weekend (lots of pictures from that later on).  But he also needs to pick up his car because his head-gaskets blew when we were driving the last time I saw him.  Poor guy is gonna be on a train for 19 hours to get here.  But here’s to great siblings that you love and are allowed to be really strange around because you know they are just as strange.

BIRTHDAYS?!?!

      It’s not my birthday, it’s my Mom’s (my best friend).  I thought a day this special deserved a special post.  So Mom since I know you’ll probably read this I have a couple things I’d like to tell you.  I love you so much, you’ve really made me into the person that I am now.  You’re my best friend and you always will be, I would do anything for you (don’t abuse that power).  I’m also very grateful for everything you do for me.  I don’t think that I will ever be able to make you understand the way that I think you’re a wonderful person.

                   For everyone else reading, I hope you have a Mom or Dad or Aunt, Uncle, or someone in your life that you feel this way about,  Having someone there to guide you through everything makes you feel so loved.  It’s a gift to have someone in your life that cares that much for you. Sometimes things get hard and you aren’t getting along with the ones you  love but soon everything works it’s way through and you can remember that without those people you’d be someone very different. 

      So if you have someone like my Mom in your life don’t forget to make them feel special and loved, as they make you feel.  Everyone deserves that feeling.

Hot Summer Nights

     Yesterday was my day off so I got to spend it A) doing homework B)shopping for my Mom’s Birthday and C) going into town for Hot Summer Nights.  The one street closes, music and food is there.  It’s a lot of fun.  So I thought I might dress up a bit since I usually just wear shorts and a t-shirt when I’m not a work.  O really liked my outfit today, especially with the blue tights.

I really like that my style has evolved from when I was younger.  I think that a lot of my inspiration comes from the blogs I read.  I really look forward to coming up with another cute outfit that makes me feel beautiful.                                   
         I’ve had the opportunity to reflect more on how I’ve grown and changed from 8th grade.  I only owned 1 dress.  I think a lot of that was the fact that the people I went to school with expected me to wear certain things.  When I went away to high school I was open to change myself and I continue to do that when I think that my path is changing.  It’s been a great thing for me.  I moved out of my comfort zone and now I really like the things I create to wear.  It’s something I treasure.  How have you styles changed?

A Thrift A Day

   I haven’t been thifting everyday, although I wish I could.  

  But my Mom and I did go to Goodwill today I ended up finding really cute things that I can’t wait to wear.  My Mom doesn’t like the sweater but I think it’ll be great for running around campus once the weather starts getting colder.  What are your favorite thrift stores?

Livestock

    Okay so my dog isn’t livestock but he’s still pretty cut right?  I love to wrap him in a blanket and call him Burtrito.  When we got him, oh two years ago, he would run away all the time.  Now though he’s just a lazy ol’ dog (not really) and stays with us.  Since he’s a hound dog we want to get a Weiner dog so that he can have a mini-me.  He’s not a good traveling dog, which sucks because I really want to go on a road-trip after I graduate high school and it would be really fun to have him with me, maybe if we get a Weiner dog I can him/her with me instead.  We’ll just have to see about that.     
     There is a reason though that I titled this post livestock.  My family has chickens.  They weren’t laying any eggs so we bought more chickens that were laying from another family.  Once they got here I guess it set off something in our original chickens because one of them started laying eggs, in a flower pot.  I’m not joking I have evidence of this.  When I went outside today I saw one of these eggs laying there in the flower pot.  So     
when I got to get my camera the chicken was in the pot laying the second egg.
